“I learned more in two sessions with you than I had my entire life with 25 dogs.” -Lisa H.

LIFE CHANGING DOG TRAINING™ METHOD

OUR BELIEFS, METHODS & PHILOSOPHIES

LIFE CHANGING DOG TRAINING™ is a STEP BY STEP PROCESS that will change your life with your dogs. LCDT IS FOUNDED IN BIBLICAL AS PRINCIPLES FOR RELATIONSHIP BASED TRAINING.   We believe that by caring about all of God's creatures we can learn to care about each other and the world around us. We are all in relationships with each other, so we believe our relationship with animals should reflect love and respect just as our relationship with God should be built on love and respect.

THE LCDT™ PROCESS

The COMMUNICATIVE LEASHWORK PROCESS® is hard to say, but easy to dog process to begin to address all your pets behavior issues. The process is founded in using the LEASH as the PRIMARY COMMUNICATION TOOL employing a special type of pressure/release technique to open up communication lines between owners and their dogs. We use the leash to begin our training but teach our clients to use a variety of other tools. A good dog trainer knows which tools to use to help speed up learning process and help build the relationship between owner and dog.

THE GOSPEL SHOULD BE EXPLAINED SO SIMPLE THAT EVEN A CHILD CAN UNDERSTAND IT.  WE TAKE THE SAME APPROACH FOR OUR TRAINING, EVEN THOUGH DOGS CAN LEARN HUNDREDS OF COMMANDS, WE FOCUS ON ONLY 10 COMMANDMENTS FOR OUR DOGS. ONCE YOU MASTER THESE YOU WILL HAVE THE THE TOOLS TO GUIDE YOUR DOG THROUGH LIFE.

10 COMMANDMENTS

1. COME

2. SIT

3. DOWN

4. STAY

5. RELAX

6. HEEL

7. PLACE

8. KENNEL

9. OUT

10. LEAVE IT

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

Once we show you how to lay a solid foundation for your relationship with your dogs, you have the knowledge to teach any and all dogs how to live in the world peacefully forever changing your lives. This is the best GIFT we can give to our dogs and family, because God wants us to be happy and content in our everyday lives. Your dogs will follow your COMMANDS ON OR OFF LEASH depending on your needs and goals so you can have a new life with your dog! You and your dogs will have LIFE SKILLS for the rest or your lives!

A GOOD TEACHER also knows how to help owners set rules, boundaries and limitations so they can understand how to live in the world. There are thousands of HUMANE SOCIETIES and RESCUES, however half the dogs adopted will be returned to shelters, and the number one reason is due to BEHAVIOR ISSUES. It is because of this reason, we are taking a different approach about how to help animals and empower owners with information to keep dogs SAFE AND HAPPY AND IN THEIR HOMES..

RELATIONSHIP BASED TRAINING

LCDT™ is focused on creating and sustaining RELATIONSHIP BASED TRAINING to help more humans and animals.  We want to empower as many pet owners as possible with tools and information to help their own animals. Once they have the information they can help other humans and animals. Christ commanded us to treat others as we would want to be treated, and God put in charge of these creatures as stewards to look after and take care of them just as He cares for us.

DO ANIMALS HAVE FEELINGS?

We believe animals have SIMILAR FEELINGS as humans, however they are a different species so they communicate differently.  God gave us the ability to understand and communicate with our animals and wisdom and knowledge to hep them. So our focus is to help pet owners understand the problems they are having with their animals, without jeopardizing their RELATIONSHIPS, but instead actually improving the bond between them. Learning what animals are trying to tell us is key in solving or preventing problems and conflicts.

LEAST INVASIVE MINIMALLY AVERSIVE

We believe good animal care and training should always involve the "LEAST INVASIVE MINIMALLY AVERSIVE" (LIMA) techniques designed to affect the animals "mental and physical state," so that people are not chasing problems but building a relationship with the animals so that most behavior problems fade away. Our hope is by sharing information and resources we can focus on helping animals and their owners life a happier life, and most importantly keeping these pets in their homes as God intended.

L.C.D.T. HUMANE PRINCIPLES IN WORKING WITH DOGS:

  • The dog's immediate needs come first, taking into account whether the animal is injured, ill, fearful, frustrated, hungry, thirsty, needing to eliminate or exercise, and ensuring the dog’s needs have been met so they can concentrate on what is being asked of them.

  • Learning to interpret dog's body language, tuning into telltale signs that let you know how the animal is feeling-whether it's confusion, fear, frustration or some other emotion.  Understanding body language, and knowing what to do improves communication and keeps everyone safe.

  • Learning how your actions or inaction are affecting an dog's behavior, and how to lead and guide your dog to make better, appropriate choices by teaching them the behaviors you want from them.

  • Leadership means being firm but fair, working with animals not about dominating your dog so that they fear you, but we work to earn the respect of the dog and in return they offer the same respect. So that dogs will choose to follow you because they love and respect you.

  • Becoming clear about your expectations for your dogs, and also being honest about your abilities and commitment level that may hinder progress for both you and the animal. This way humans take responsibility for the dogs that is in their care.

  • Figuring out how to affectively communicate with dogs in fair and clear ways they can understand, while learning how to humanely hold them accountable for behaviors they know but refuse to comply with that may put their lives or others lives in danger.

  • Using what motivates dogs to create positive associations to mark what behaviors we want from the animal. While using humane systematic pressure to help them understand how to deal with the stress of the world.

  • Using pressure when an dog gets into an negative state of mind, to help them shift to a healthier state and releasing pressure and adding rewards when they are in a positive state of mind.

  • Setting clear rules and boundaries for a dog and learning how to give your animals humane consequences for negative/unsafe behaviors that you would like to change.

  • Confusion is stressful for humans and animals so it is important to help your animals understand acceptable and unacceptable behavior just like we would for children.

  • Building self confidence in dogs, since life can get stressful in a world created by humans, we can continue to give our animal new coping skills to deal with various stressful situations.

  • Watching/reading our dogs carefully, will set them up for success, instead of pushing them too far, too fast, too soon and giving them too much responsibility that our pets may not be ready for.

L.C.D.T. MISSION:

"To empower pet owners with information, knowledge and tools to help their dogs, keeping them healthy, happy and in their home.  By teaching the humans how to train their dogs, they will have skills for the rest of their lives. Focusing on our relationship with dogs we can improve our relationships with each other, God and the world around us. Learning to respect dogs and love them like Christ loves us, we can create long lasting positive changes in humans, animals and the world around us."
